SASSU team for white water and slalom to compete in Slovakia
General Information:
I’m water sports mad and love anything involving the sea! I was more competed in long distance river races until this year where I tried out new disciplines of slalom and white water canoeing. I thoroughly enjoyed these new aspects of the sport and was lucky enough to make the SASSU varsity team to compete in Slovakia in September. I am going to train hard for this competition and take full advantage of this opportunity to compete abroad.
Training Tips:
Set goals for the year and stick to these. This helps with motivation! It is impossible to remain in peak condition for every race throughout the year so rather focus on a couple important races you aim to do well in. Then plan your training around these. Have a base training period, (less intense, longer interval paddles, with lots of gym) an intermediate training period (shorten your intervals, more intensity) and a tapering period (resting for race day).
